BigQuery

BigQuery is a Bigdata solution created by Google that enables large-scale data storage and analysis. In this article, we'll show you how to register a BigQuery database as a destination on Kondado's platform, so you can centralize data from all your company's tools.

Click here to access the tutorial on how to connect to your visualization tool:
Looker Studio
Power BI

In this tutorial, we show how to authenticate BigQuery with your email account. This authentication may expire if there are session expiration policies, periodic login revalidation, or changes to access credentials. If you want to ensure that your BigQuery remains permanently authenticated, avoiding failures due to session expiration, we recommend using authentication via a Service Account, please follow
this tutorial

In this tutorial we show you how to add BigQuery with your email account.

1) On the Kondado platform, go to the add new destinations page and select the Google BigQuery data destination

2) Click AUTHORIZE

3) Select the account you will use

4) On the next screen, check ALL permissions that are required and click Continue

ATTENTION: Before proceeding, make sure that your Google Cloud project has active billing

5) You will be redirected to Kondado's page with your access already authorized. Continue in this tutorial to find the remaining information you need

6) Access your BigQuery console on GCP and copy the project IDs (in red in the picture below) and the dataset (in green)

BIQUERY_2.png

7) Again on the page of step (5), paste the project and dataset values obtained in step (6) and name your destination

ATTENTION: Make sure that the Dataset ID DOES NOT contain the project ID separated by “:”. For example, “id_project:id_dataset” is wrong. The correct thing is that the Project ID and Dataset ID are each separately in their respective fields

Now you can save your destination and start creating your data pipelines! Don't forget to click on “TEST CONNECTION” to check if our connection with your BigQuery destination is successful!

Frequently asked questions

What is BigQuery and why use it with Kondado?
BigQuery is Google's large-scale data storage and analysis solution. Using it with Kondado lets you centralize data from all your company's tools into one powerful destination.
Do I need to have a BigQuery database already created?
Yes, you need an existing BigQuery database. If you don't have one, the article mentions a tutorial on how to create a BigQuery database that you can follow first.
Why did my BigQuery authentication stop working?
Email authentication may expire due to session policies, periodic revalidation, or credential changes. For permanent authentication without expiration failures, use a Service Account instead.
What should I check before authorizing BigQuery on Kondado?
Make sure your Google Cloud project has active billing enabled before proceeding with the authorization steps, or the connection will fail.
How do I format the Project ID and Dataset ID correctly?
Enter the Project ID and Dataset ID in their separate respective fields. Do NOT combine them as "id_project:id_dataset" in the Dataset ID field.
How can I connect BigQuery to my BI or visualization tool?
After setting up BigQuery as your destination, you can connect it to visualization tools. The article references tutorials for Looker Studio and Power BI, or explore other data visualization options.
